African-American Women in Technology is an online training and support community for African-American Women employed in or aspiring to enter the field of Information TechnologyAUDIENCE PROFILE Aawit.net targets women who are actively looking for training and career advancement opportunities, networking resources, emotional and moral support and also those focused on the overall improvement of their lives. This group consists of women of all ages with various levels of education, success and affluence. FEATURES The AAWIT Resume Bank - Launched July 2009 - Members can post their resumes as well as a resume video and apply for jobs posted by companies who are looking to hire candidates from the African-American female market. Hiring Managers and Recruiters who are looking to diversify their workplace can search our resume database for qualified candidates. Member - Only Area RELAUNCH - January 2009 - AAWIT now uses NING to host its member-only area. Click here for more information. Member-Only Area - Launched on November 12, 2001, the private member-only area of the aawit.net Web site is the member resource for training, events, support and news. There is a wealth of information and resources for members to interact, learn from and even assist other members from around the nation. Members have access to our online IT and self-help libraries, the AAWIT volunteer bank, where members can work on real web sites while building their professional resume and portfolio. There is also a national member directory and an event calendar and a job board with postings that specifically target minority candidates. Big Sister Network - The AAWIT National Big Sister Network is a special feature of the aawit.net Web site which allows women to be mentored by other women who are more advanced and experienced in areas such as career, parenting, finance, education and relationships.
